Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Customized or “Bespoke” facial and WHY is it important?

The skin is the largest organ of the body, serves as the primary defense against environmental & external stressors and as you age, evidences the daily care (or lack thereof) throughout your lifetime. Creating a regimen that is specific to your unique skin care properties vs. a “one size fits all” approach is therefore key to the overall health & wealth of your truest skin.
As opposed to selecting a facial that may not be beneficial to your skincare goals, the treatment, and products applied to each client are specific to what your skin needs at the time of treatment. For example, if your skin shows signs of dehydration, products will be applied to address the immediate need. Likewise, if your skin appears to be experiencing a breakout, products and laser therapy may be applied at the time of treatment. Having a licensed aesthetician who can identify your skin type, address your needs accordingly, and provide detailed consultation for after-care is what makes a bespoke treatment specific to each individual client.

“Touchy Feely” Client Focus

In the age of social media where businesses focus on reaching as many clients as possible - POSE focuses on treating clients as individuals with different requirements & specifications as it relates to their skin care. Simply put, POSE is planned, operated, and measured in terms of customer satisfaction. Of course, no one business can be all things to all people - a fit between an aesthetician and a client is a relationship that must be built through trust & time. Still, the mindset of your aesthetician is: What you need, you will be given vs. what you will be given, what may not need. Suggestions are provided for your skincare based on expertise as opposed to a set menu, the relaxation & satisfaction of your service and the overall EXPERIENCE are of the utmost concern and the value of your feedback allows for improvement where needed.

How often should I have a facial?

While each client has unique skin care properties, the skin itself rejuvenates (or recreates itself) every 28 days. As such, it is suggested that facials are received once per month (28-30 days). Understandably, if a monthly facial does not fit into your schedule, at minimum, once every 6 weeks is also sufficient.

A facial requires no preparation. However, if you are receiving a chemical peel (either one session or a series), the following applies:

  1. Avoid tanning and/or intense sun exposure 1-2 weeks prior to treatment

  2. It is suggested retinol (retinoid) be used 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Retinoids will help pre-treat any hyperpigmentation that you are currently experiencing and assist to prevent this from occurring after treatment. Any product containing retinoids should be completely eliminated from your skincare routine 7-10 days before treatment.

  3. Avoid microdermabrasion, harsh products, scrubbing, and/or any other chemical peels that may counteract your service. In other words, be KIND to your skin the week of treatment! If you have a question on the use of any product and/or treatment prior to a chemical peel, the answer is most likely: NO!

Please note, if during your initial evaluation, it is determined that a chemical peel cannot be done based on any of the above criteria, POSE has the right to disallow a chemical peel session until your skin condition permits. In the best interest of each client and the aesthetician providing services, we would rather be cautious than apologetic!
